Dotty: 1.4 Overview, Features, BOM

With version 1.4 I have a working prototype with a panel. These make mounting it in a case possible. There are still some minor issues I want to fix before releasing it to the public. I build Dotty so I know what to expect. But I would be nice to have some feedback.

This topic is mainly for those whom received or are going to receive a 1.4 prototype version. I hope It helps with the build and explain some of the features. If you haven’t received a Dotty but curious on what it can do, keep on reading.

Overview

Dotty is a trigger sequencer. When I made Dotty I wanted control over my drum sounds. Dotty is going to be the drummer controlling the drums in my rack. I can control other things too. It outputs triggers on 8 channels/tracks. Short pulses of 5 volts, currently it is set to 4ms pulses.

I wanted more control over drums in a live situation. The selected track is programmable with 16 buttons. One tracks has 16 steps, each step controlled by a button. The tracks can be selected with the smaller buttons. There are some extra buttons that will give some more control in a live setup. Like recording a step or filling the drum for a drum-roll.

From a builders point of view it needed to be easy build, keeping cost low and no smd.
